Lisbeth Mulcahy, who is originally from Denmark, has been living in Chorca Dhuibhne, The Dingle Peninsula, with her Irish husband, Louis, since 1975. This is also the year she started weaving under the tutelage of American weaver Joanne Hayes. In 1989 she opened her workshop and retail shop in the centre of Dingle town.
Lisbeth designs all the woven goods for sale in the shop. All the wall hangings on display are made at the shop and the weaving room is open to allow visitors look in. Her scarves, stoles and throws are made by an Irish commission weaver. She, herself, makes the unique tapestries.
Today Lisbeth Mulcahy is one of Ireland’s best known designer/weavers and tapestry artists and you can see her work at Siopa na bhFiodóirí (The Weaver’s Shop), which was voted “One of the most beautiful shops in Ireland.”
Siopa na bhFiodóirí also sells the work of Lisbeth’s potter husband, Louis Mulcahy, as well as a selection of knitwear, jewellery and other work by Irish designer/makers. Customers who travel all the way to Dingle to visit our shop can avail of the special workshop prices charged here on our weavings and pottery. These prices are up to 15% less than the recommended retail price.
