Milltown House is a first-class accommodation experience, with a serene private environment, gourmet breakfasts and a hearty Irish welcome to a well-traveled and discerning clientele of professional couples, families and individual travelers eager to explore the magic of Dingle.
This unique accommodation has a boutique-hotel feel and a Hollywood connection! The making of the film Ryan’s Daughter in Dingle in 1969 was a turning point in the town’s economic fortunes. With a budget of $13.3 million, a cast that included Robert Mitchum and Sarah Miles, and directed by David Lean, this was a mammoth production. The film’s portrayal of Dingle’s scenery attracted visitors from around the world. Film buffs and romantics now have the opportunity to stay in the Robert Mitchum room at Milltown House. The star had accommodation here for a year.
Milltown House offers 10 huge en-suite rooms with glorious views of the Atlantic Ocean and Dingle Bay and is on the fringe of Dingle village, only 10 minute walk to the centre of town. With a new library-bar, the ‘Robert Mitchum Bar,’ guests are treated to a cold beer or a nice glass of wine on arrival or after check-in, much appreciated by all guests after a day of travelling or before going out to enjoy one of Dingles’ many fine restaurants.
